Coral nurseries are a vital component of HOC’s restoration efforts.
In keeping with HOC’s goals to restore local reefs and protect endangered coral species, we have established multiple coral nurseries in the area surrounding Amiga Island in Northern Haiti. These shallow-water, protected nurseries provide the ideal setting for coral fragments to grow and thrive.
To date we currently operate three A-frame style nurseries with 14 frames total, and 1 coral tree nursery containing six trees. Between our four nurseries, the conservancy currently has over 1,300 growing coral fragments
